Every month, we chat with the residents and ask what activities, games, crafts, and trips they would like. The activities are then based on their suggestions. We have dedicated activity coordinators who plan the trips, games, musicians, films, and seasonal activities.
The Chestnuts works very closely with the local primary school. Every six weeks, the year one primary school children visit us, and we all draw together, read, and craft. This is always a highlight and loved by all. The children are always very well-behaved, friendly, and chatty.
We have close relations with the local churches and attend their coffee mornings and activities.
Every Monday, my brother asks the residents if anyone would like an escorted trip to the village shops, garden centre, or just for a lookout.
Seasonal Activities
During the summer months, we hold a garden party. Sometimes with afternoon tea, sometimes a BBQ. All friends and family are welcome.
At Christmas time, we are invited to the primary school’s ‘Caring Christmas’, and the children serve cakes and drinks.
The local secondary school choir visits the home and sings Christmas carols.
