The Chestnuts Residential Care Home Sleaford

Retirement Home in Sleaford

The Chestnuts is a family-run care home in Sleaford that aims to provide every resident with the highest standard of person-centred care.

We strive to create a friendly “home from home” atmosphere, and our dedicated team of caregivers goes above and beyond to ensure every resident feels welcomed, comfortable, and cared for.

As a small family-run care home, we are able to offer a flexible and responsive care environment that encourages everyone’s input on decisions on how the care home is decorated and run. We want our residents to feel a sense of pride in their home, and we encourage them to share their ideas on everything from the activities we do to the food we serve.

In my opinion, this should be an example of how all Care and Retirement Homes should be run, with respect, fun, love, enjoyment and independence

About the Chestnuts

My Grandad, Eric, founded our care home forty years ago. He was the owner and manager, and my nana did the cooking.

My parents started working at the Chestnuts, offering care, when I was 4. I started working as a carer at the Chestnuts Retirement Home 24 years ago. However, I have known the home my whole life, and as a child, I often visited to say ‘hi’ to the residents.

Throughout the last 24 years, I have worked in every aspect of the care home, from care assistant to accounts. I am now the Manager and the Owner. My children often visit the Chestnuts Retirement Home to say ‘hi’ to the residents and have expressed interest in continuing the family business.

The Chestnuts has always been known as a family home.

My nana and grandad ended their years at the Chestnuts Retirement Home, and we aim to ensure your loved one receives that same high standard of care.

Your parents are treated as our own.

“I have just spent around six weeks in here after being unable to return home after breaking my leg and shattering my kneecap. I cannot stress enough about the excellent care I received. Nothing was too much trouble, and all the staff were friendly, helpful and kind. I was there over the Xmas period, and they made a real effort to make it a special time. The food was good home cooking and was always excellent. A huge thank you to all staff.”

“The care you give Dad is excellent. We know he can be difficult, but you are all really great with him”

Your Home, Your Say

As a small family-run care home, we have the ability to offer environmental mastery.

Moving into a care home is a scary prospect for most people. People associate care with loss of control, freedom, independence and dignity.

People see it as an end step in their lives. We don’t believe this. When someone moves into The Chestnuts, they make new friends and have companionship, good food, valuable input, daily activities and freedom to live how they want to live.

Moving into a care home should be a positive choice. With 24/7 care, you can have more freedom and control compared to struggling at home alone.

We want The Chestnuts to become yours and your loved ones’ home. We want everyone’s input and decisions on how the care home is decorated and how the care home is run.

We want people to feel a sense of pride in their environment. It is their home, and their opinion matters. It does not matter how big or small the request is; if we can do it, we will.

Since The Chestnuts is a small family business, there are no set budgets we have to comply with based on maximising profits. We simply work together to meet our resident's individual care needs and create a friendly and welcoming care home in Sleaford.
